I spent the long weekend shooting the opening of the TransRockies mountain bike race, starting in Fernie BC, with my good friend Chris Garrison who was wrenching for her ‘boss’, Keith Bontrager. The race looked brutal – “proper” mountain terrain coupled with high temperatures and a relentless schedule meant that a lot of racers were suffering right from the beginning – amateurs and professional riders alike.
