Awesome Awesomeland

Last night I had the pleasure of seeing the North Vancouver premiere of Bones Over Metal‘s great new bike movie “Awesomeland: Women of Dirt“.  Here’s their own words on what it’s all about:

Awesome Land: Women Of Dirt is a unique look into the world of Downhill Racing, Dirt Jumping and Freeriding. This film looks through the eyes of the wondrous women that have helped grow the sport of Gravity Mountain Biking with their strength and courage.

Awesome Land: Women Of Dirt celebrates the mountain bike while celebrating the women who love them. A beautiful and energetic film that opens a window into an awesome world.

I couldn’t agree more;  it’s great to see a women’s focussed movie with such a friendly vibe to it.  The crowd, the biggest I think that tiny pub has ever seen, loved it and by happy chance I came away with a copy on DVD.  Not only that, but I managed to get it signed by two of the raddest women in mountain biking – Micayla Gatto and Tara Llanes.  Check it out, it looks pretty great:

The purpose of this post isn’t (just) to gloat however, I figured I’d spread the love and give this away to someone else so they can enjoy it too.  It’s easy to enter, too – just post a comment below saying why you think you should win it*, and I’ll pick the best in a couple of weeks.  Simple as that, really.

* Keep it clean… that means you, ever-growing-horde-of-Gatto-worshippers.

  1. Well, I retweeted it, I bought loads of stuff at the auction Tara had two years ago (brownie points), and it’s my birthday today, but unfortunately my gf’s in New Zeland for three weeks.

Was cool seeing such a great turnout last night! I got me a copy too, but not signed. So, umm, I don’t really need to win it, but would be cool – I’d give it to one of my lady friends who ride!

I’ll only accept it if you sign it Dan!

Wanted to take my son to the premier last night, because I take every opportunity I can get to show him that women are strong and powerful and wicked riders. Of course, he’s only 12 – so it’s DVD only for us. Would love to share this with him and his other riding buddies. And get some inspiration for my own riding =D

I have been waiting for this movie since I first heard about it, awesome that a lot of the cool women of this sport are getting recognized. I would love a copy of this to show my women friends that this sport is fun and there is more too it than what most other media shows.

I believe I should win the (insert item here) because I am a winner and winners win things so hence I should win this. Anyone of these ladies would be proud to have me father thier children and change diapers and do dishes all day while the go out and ride so I thing they would want me to have this vid. I will watch it with all my friends (three)and I have great teeth. Thank you and don’t swear.

Still have it? I’m in need of some inspiration. New to MTBiking and would love something that I can get totally jazzed on and remind me that there’s only room for improvement – so get out there!

I just had a baby girl six months ago. We want positive female role models for little Cedar who are courageous, healthy, and enjoy the outdoors. I’m a single track/freeride addict and it would be nice share that with my little girl. This movie looks like it can give little Cedar all that and then some!
